In partnership with The Sacramento Bee, AAJA Sacramento is sponsoring a 10-week internship program for aspiring print, photo, graphics and multimedia journalists. A weekly stipend of $560 will be provided for the intern. The program begins in May or June 2021, depending on the intern’s availability. Upon successful completion of the internship, the intern will be eligible for a $1,000 grant from the chapter.
About the Program
To qualify, an applicant must be enrolled in a college or university. Recent graduates who completed their studies in Fall 2020 are eligible to apply. All participants must be 2021 AAJA student members. Strong preference will be given to AAJA Sacramento student members. Go to www.aaja.org to join or renew your membership.
AAJA Sacramento will evaluate the initial pool of applications and nominate a candidates for The Bee. Phone interviews may be conducted for the finalists. Applicants are also encouraged to apply for other student programs that The Bee operates.

Requirements
• A resume.
• A cover letter that should address why diversity still matters in America’s newsrooms. The letter should also mention the qualities and accomplishments you would bring to The Bee and a career in journalism.
• Three to five work samples as PDFs. URLs should be provided for any multimedia clips.
• Two letters of reference, including at least one from a professor or faculty adviser on school letterhead.
