Meet Your New Senior Vice President for 2019

Frank Bi was elected by AAJA members to serve as Vice President of Journalism Programs for the 2019 term beginning January 1, 2019. The special election was held to fill the remainder of Ramy Inocencio’s term as Vice President of Journalism Programs, as Ramy was elected to serve as Senior Vice President for the 2019 term.

Frank_Bi_–_PHOTO__AAJA_VP_of_Journalism_Programs_.jpgFrank Bi is an editorial engineer at Vox Media in New York City where he works on innovative storytelling projects for the web. His work is a mix of web development, graphics and journalism. Frank is also an adjunct professor at Fordham University in Bronx, New York where he teaches data literacy and visualization. Additionally, he is a Google News Initiative trainer and travels to dozens of newsrooms, conferences and classrooms every year to teach young and veteran journalists alike on utilizing free journalism tools in their workflows. Frank graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in computer science. As an AAJA member, Frank is the National Convention Programming Chair for the 2019 convention in Atlanta, Georgia. He has served in this position for the past two conferences. Frank is a 2011 graduate of Voices and is also the emcee of AAJA’s annual karaoke night.
