- Christine Hsu is leaving for California after next week’s membership mixer (sadness reigned). We will need a membreship co-chair to fill the nonvoting seat.
- AAJA-DC is offering 2 stiends for 2 students interning in D.C., $1,000 per student. AAJA-NY has had student stipends. Financially, stipends should not be a problem.
- Many NY volunteers needed to make the convention work [see below]. Also: We are considering another preconvention video.
Current balance: $51,294.69
$15,880 set aside for scholarships.
$1K for ELP, convention stipends for freelancers, students, volunteer rewards.
Planning 9 Convention tickets altogether as rewards, 5 to AAJA students. [*Chris to buy 9 tix.]
Maria is talking to Kathy about extending early bird in case of more scholarships.
Chris suggests buying 20 early-bird tickets for now; tix can be unloaded later (cf. UNITY experience)
NYU Job fair update: we got stick in a bad room, far corner a room off. Chris got 8 resumes. Cat: Worth doing again?
$10,000 from GM overall, also use money for programming. Last year, split it 60-40 (scholarship/programming)
When: May 16 Where: Broad St. Ballroom. AALDEF back in, other lawyer group not sure. NY Times likely to play. Prices: $500 for community group (10
people). Local group is $800. Offering individiual tickets $50 each.
Bao sent out a list of vounteers.
We could use more items to raffle off. Currently, we have prizes from 6 Flags, ABC shows, voucher from General Assembly (classes for coding). Seamless gift cards, but still not big ticket item. Silent Auction – HIGH PRIORITY — due last week
The most important: silent action coordinator. Seattle is in charge of it but a NY coordinator is needed. National has a list of items good to ask for (eg., tickets to Broadway and other oevents). The hope is to net $20,000 overall.

Also needed on rolling basis – 1 meeting per month to offer guidance. The program goes through National, which has a list of mentors, mentees (Randall Yip organizing).

Membership benefits chair – HIGH PRIORITY – due by June 15
Someone who can help find sponors for platinum, gold members: for
example, classes, passes, restaurants. Someone who can put together

National says not to plan too many parties.]

Goal is to have a pamphlet or one-sheet.

Chris sent an email to the board. Conventional volunteers, 4 hours get 4 points, maybe get 20 points to get a day at the convention.
