2. Resume Critique logistics (Sital)
Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at The New York Times building
a) Still need stylist for “Dress for Success” workshop (no answer from Banana Republic)
- Brooke mentioned that Michelle Yu is working on a styling station for the 2013 AAJA National Convention, will ask Michelle to recruit same stylist for resume critique workshop
b) Need volunteers for check-in at resume critique workshop
c) Event outreach (only 10 people have registered for the event)
- Sital and Romey promoted resume critique via AAJA-NY listserv, Columbia, NYU, CUNY
- Brooke suggested we reach out to media networks
- Mike suggested we promote event on Mediabistro
d) Headshots with Corky between 2-3 p.m.
- Corky needs photo assistant to help transfer images to laptop
e) Food Sponsor/Vendor – Heather will reach out to Pret A Manger, Dean & Deluca and Subway
3. 2013 Board Elections (Heather)
a) Deadlines
- Nov. 5 (official names sent to National)
- Revise deadline for candidate statements
- Only received two submissions
b) Open Boards positions: VP of Broadcast, VP of Online, Social Media Chair, Membership Co-chair, Mentorship Chair, Student Outreach Liaison
c) Recruitment
- Evaluate AAJA-NY roster and approach potential volunteers
4. Convention 2013 Update (Brooke)
a) Conducted survey to solicit feedback to members on what they want/need from the convention
b) Ironing out programming proposal grid
c) Key note speakers
- Working on outreach with Kathy Chow
- Narrowed it down to four or five
d) Sponsorship
- Sital mentioned that Wells Fargo was interested in sponsoring the convention
5. National Update (Brooke/Sital)
-Doris Truong was appointed VP of UNITY Board
6. Corky’s Fundraiser Update (Maria)
a) Indiegogo = fundraiser outlet
-Corky has already received $200 from AAJA members for stolen camera
6. Holiday Party
a) Secure a venue (bar/restaurant or media company sponsorship)
b) Chris mentioned we should pair up with another organization and hold a joint holiday party
-Brooke mentioned NAAAP-NY relaunched New York chapter and the president wants to work with us
